A Star Wars movies themed birthday party is a fun for teens, tweens or pre-teens. The Star Wars saga lends itself to awesome ideas for a terrific teenage celebration.

The popularity of Star Wars spans generations. This makes it a great party idea. Teenagers can enjoy a Jedi Training Camp or a simple party with fun, food, crafts and favors. Teens and pre-teens can go high tech, come in costume, or have a dance.

Whatever type of Star Wars party is planned, the following ideas may be adapted to various groups. Once the theme is set, brainstorming can produce some very cool ideas.

Ideas for Homemade Invitation Wording

Wording on invitations can be laid out to appear like the scrolling prologues from the movies. A Jedi computer font is available for downloading.

Some invitation phrasing suggestions include "Come to the best birthday party in the galaxy," or "In a galaxy far away... (party info added here), or "Please come to a Star Wars party. You're my only hope!" Of course, every invite should end with "May the Force Be With You."

Fun Food Ideas for a Star Wars Party

Yoda Soda: This festive punch is made in a punchbowl with 1/2 gallon lime sherbet and a chilled 2 liter bottle of 7-Up poured over the top of scooped sherbet (serve immediately). A clear punch bowl will take on a science fiction glow if set upon a couple of green glow-in-the-dark necklaces (available at party and dollar stores)
"Pizza the Hutt"
Wookie Cookies: As long as they are big and brown, any cookie will work.

Star Wars Birthday Party Activity Ideas

Build a Droid: Teens use odd containers, metal, wire, or just about anything to create a custom droid. A hot glue gun may be helpful for faster drying. Teenagers can really get into this, especially if robotic kits are available (such as Lego Mindstorms or Robotix)
Destroy the Death Star: Buy or make a round Death Star piñata filled with Star Wars treats. Eacn Jedi take turns battling the enemy with a wooden dowel light saber until the Death Star "explodes."
Watching Star Wars movies late at night is perfect for a teen birthday.

Party Decoration Ideas

Create a Mos Eisley Cantina with disco lights, tables,and a dance floor.
Search online for "Star Wars images" for photos and illustrations for decorating,
Decorate with glow sticks and other glowing items. These can also serve as party favors.

Star Wars Music Ideas for Party Planning

Play Star Wars related music (from movie soundtracks) including the Star Wars Theme Song, Darth Vader's Music or the unusual Mos Eisley Cantina music from Episode 4
Play funny Weird Al Yankovic spoof songs or videos about Star Wars, such as The Saga Begins, The Jedi Song, Star Wars Cantina and Yoda.

Most of these can be found on iTunes online. Videos can often be found for free download at YouTube online.
