Game

Moon Rock Relay

Directions: Cut several pieces of foam padding to fashion rocks. Divide the children into teams. Give each team a pile of "moon rocks" and a set of kitchen tongs. Place a bucket for each team at a finish line. The object of the game is to be the first team to transport all of the moon rocks from the pile to the bucket using only the tongs (robot arm). The first racer will pick up a rock, run to the bucket return to his team and pass the tongs to the next player. The game continues until all of the "rocks" have been moved.

Activity

Alien Slime

This recipe makes enough for about three children.

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Place liquid starch into a plastic container. Stir in 8 drops of green food coloring.
  2. Pour in the glue, stirring constantly with the plastic spoon. The mixture will become ropey in texture.
  3. Knead the mixture with your hands until all of the starch is absorbed. Let it stand for 5 minutes.
  4. Turn the slime onto a smooth, clean surface. Knead it some more.
  5. Now the slime is ready to play with.
  6. Give each guest a zip-lock baggie to store the slime in.

Cake and Food

Plutonian Freeze

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Place frozen fruit in a food processor's container. Process the fruit, stopping to scrape the sides occasionally, until it is very finely chopped.
  2. Add yogurt and powdered sugar. Process the mixture until smooth.
  3. Serve immediately or store in the freezer until ready to eat. Scoop it with an ice cream scooper.

UFO Cake with Aliens

Directions: Prepare two flat cakes according to package directions. When cooled, put chocolate icing on top with Oreos smashed up in the icing to look like a planet's surface. Make little UFOs by baking two very small round cakes, using the package directions. To decorate them, cover each cake with chocolate icing and put little yellow dots of icing along the edges to make it look like UFO lights. Make aliens by baking cupcakes with white cake mix according to package directions, but add enough drops of food coloring to turn the cake batter green. Top each cupcake with green icing (white icing mixed with green food coloring), and on top of each alien insert two pieces of a pull apart Twizzlers for the antennae and two black jelly beans for the alien eyes.

Goodie Bags

Goodie bags can include Mars Bars, Rock candy, Pop Rocks, Milky Way Bars, toy walkie talkies, space stickers, glow in the dark wall decorations, alien figures, foam rockets, and bubbles.
