An active follow-the-leader style game or sit down giggly games, these gems are sure to entertain.

No equipment is needed for these games.

Fire Walking

  • players pretend that the floor of every room in the house is made of burning, white-hot coals. The group may need to have a short discussion to determine what actually makes up "floor". Is it just the polished wooden floorboards, or does it include carpets but perhaps not rugs?
  • everyone removes their socks and shoes
  • begin by choosing a leader. All the other players follow the leader around the house without stepping on the white-hot coals
  • this means that players will be stepping on or over chairs, couches, beds, tables: anything that is not the floor
  • if the leader comes to a dead-end, the player who can find a way out becomes the new leader.

Hint: remove a pullover and use it to half-shuffle, half-slide across smooth surfaces like tiles or polished floors. If passing the bathroom, grab a towel to use later in the same way.

You could also make it more difficult by not allowing anyone to step on the same thing twice.

Where Did You Find That Face?

  • players sit in a circle facing inwards
  • a selected player begins by making a silly face. Any player who laughs at the face is out. Smiling is allowed but no laughing or chuckling
  • the player then passes on the "face" to the next player to the left
  • he/she has to make the same face and, again, anyone who laughs is out
  • keep going around the circle until the "face" has returned to the player who began
  • then the player to the right creates a face and passes it along in the same way as the first
  • anyone who laughs is out. Continue until there is only one player left - the winner.

Click, Click, Click, Click

  • players sit in a circle facing inwards
  • everyone begins by clicking their fingers in a regular rhythm
  • player 1 says a word and the player to the left has until the fourth click to say a word that rhymes with the first or has the same first letter. For example ... more, click, click, click, shore, click, click, click, bore, click, click, click, bottom
  • continue around the circle with each player doing the same in turn (saying a rhyming word or alliterating word before the fourth click)
  • If a player misses saying a word by the fourth beat, they are out
  • begin again with the player to the left of the person to drop out.

To make it interesting, you could reverse the direction or change who can play with Wild Words. For example any word starting with "L" changes the direction to go left, any word starting with "R" changes the direction to the right, words starting with "G" means only girls play, words starting with "B" means only boys play, words starting with "E" means everyone plays.

The last player left in the winner.
