A simple box and a few craft supplies can provide hours of birthday party fun.
This is more of a party activity that all participants can enjoy equally rather than a competitive game with just one winner. Here are just a few ideas to get started. Begin by bringing together
This activity does require a reasonable amount of room, so clear a large area or consider moving outside if the weather is fine. Party Houses Using large boxes (ones that a new appliance may come in), have the kids cut out windows and doors to create a basic "house". Let them loose painting the exterior. Cut the top and bottom off a box and then cut across diagonally to create two "v" shapes. These two shapes can be attached to two different boxes as the roof for each house. Line up the "houses" up to create a street. Perhaps the kids would like to include a butcher shop, a green grocer, even a dress shop and go visiting each in turn. Depending how old the kids are as to how elaborate the miniature street will be. Giant CastleRather than the party guests each building an individual house and joining them together to create a street, they can all band together and build a castle instead. Large boxes can be cut down a side so they can open out and several joined together. Windows can be cut in the sides as before. And rather than a roof, the children can cut out turrets and ramparts. Kiddy ArmourUsing slightly smaller boxes, cut off the bottom and top of the box so that it will go over the child's head. Make sure to ensure it is roomy enough for them to walk. Attach two lengths of string from front to back to make shoulder straps. The child should be able to move around easily in their new armour. Children can decorate their new armour with grey metallic paint (a coat from a spray can is very quick and easy) or they may prefer glitter. AnimalsUsing cardboard boxes to create animals is easy. Use the same principle as used to create the armour but rather than paint it metallic grey, paint it with the required spots or stripes of the animal. A zebra for example, just requires a few black stripes on a white background. A piece of string is sufficient for the tail. Looking for more suggestions?
