Kids will have fun monkey-ing around at a Curious George themed birthday party!

Curious George Birthday Invitations

Create Curious George postcard invitations on your home computer. Purchase a set of blank postcards at an office supply store. Use the templates that come with the package to set up the postcard.

Download monkey clip art for the front of the postcard and write, “Our Little Monkey is Turning (age), And He’d Love to Celebrate with You!” On the back of the postcard write, “Curious about the birthday fun? Then come over and monkey around with everyone!” Underneath list the details of the party and then at the bottom write, “We’ll go bananas if you can come!”

How To Make a Banana Cake

Make a banana cake for the birthday kid. Purchase your favorite brand and flavor of cake mix. Follow the directions to bake the cake, but pour the mixture into a large glass bowl instead of a cake pan. After the cake has cooled, place it in the freezer overnight.

Use a steak knife to cut out a banana shape. Cover the entire cake with yellow frosting and use black icing to draw the stems on the ends of the banana. Buy a Curious George wax figure at a party store and place it on top on the banana cake with the candles.

Curious George Birthday Party Favors

Send each guest home with a Curious George Banana Bread Starter packet. Use your favorite banana bread recipe to create the starter packets. Fill re-sealable quart size bags with the dry ingredients from the recipe. Place the baggies in the bottom of a small yellow gift bag. Add the number of bananas need for the recipe on top of the baggies and then put yellow tissue paper at the top.

Use your computer to type up the directions for making the banana bread (don’t forget to include the necessary wet ingredients) along with a thank you note from the birthday kid. Glue the directions to the front of the yellow bags and decorate the bags with Curious George stickers.

Games

  • Curious George Coloring Sheets: Visit the birthday party section of the PBS website for free coloring sheets. Set them out on a table with small cups of crayons or colored pencils.

  • Pass the Banana: Decorate a banana with a black permanent marker and download some monkey and banana songs onto your MP3 player. Play the monkey-themed version of “Hot Potato” with the banana and songs.

  • Pin the (Tail, Hat, Jacket) on George: Take a large picture or poster of Curious George and cover one item in the picture with black construction paper. With colored paper cut out multiple shapes of the item you have covered with the black paper. At the party blindfold the kids and have them take turns trying to stick the shape on the picture.
