Does your child want to be a chef for the day? The ideas presented here are for a fabulous and yummy Cooking Birthday Party theme with all the fixings!

Cook up some fun with a Cooking Birthday Party for your child. The guests will have a great time creating and baking, as well as playing fun games and taking home some nifty treats! Let's get started...

Invitations

Printable invites are below. Print on regular paper or cardstock. Cut along the outer dotted lines and fold the inner dotted lines to form the invite. Fill in the appropriate information.

Decorations

  • Have a silver and a white helium balloon tied to each party guests chair.
  • Set out silver plates, white napkins, silver cups, white utensils with a white tablecloth.
  • Hang an apron or two on a wall in the party room with cooking utensils hanging around the room as well.
  • As a table centerpiece, set out a large mixing bowl filled with decorating materials, such as icing in cans and tubes, sugar letters and designs, sprinkles, and other things that the guests can use to decorate with.
  • Make and hang a sign reading, "Welcome to Chef (your child's name)'s Cooking School" or something similar to hang on the front door as guests arrive.
  • Supply each guest with a disposable apron and chef's hat that you can find in a party supply store.

Activities

Make small cakes that each guest can decorate with the items that you placed on the table in a mixing bowl (see above). Let the children ice and decorate their cake. When all of the cakes are done, place candles in your child's cake and sing the "Happy Birthday" song.

Have the children decorate menus and write food items on the menu. You can use the template provided below for this purpose. Supply markers, crayons, and food stickers.

Games

Pin the Hat on the Chef. Draw a huge man with an apron and hang him on the wall. Draw chef hats and cut them out. Let each guest write their name on a chef hat. Blind fold each guest and let them try and place their hat on the chef's head. Give a prize to the person who is the closest to putting the hat on correctly.

Play a Utensil Scavenger Hunt. Before the party, hide utensils around the house and write clues as to where each item is. Have the guests use the clues to search for the items. What they find, they can keep. You can say what the object they are looking for is or give a riddle so they not only have to find where it is hidden, but what is hidden! Make sure each guest has a utensil to take home.

Food

Prepare pizza dough or provide ready-made pizza dough, so each child has their own small pizza. Provide the sauce and mozzarella cheese in bowls with spoons. Cut up olives, pepperonis, green peppers, and other toppings, so that each guest can create their own pizza with the toppings they like best.

Goodie Bags - "Doggie Bag"

A goodie bag can consist of dinner mints, a recipe written by the birthday person, play money, a new disposable apron, cookies, cookie cutters, and an inexpensive utensil set.
