Sometimes there's no need to come up with a brand new game, just think of a twist on an old one.
Here's some new versions of old games
Rather than Pin the Tail on the Donkey, try
- Pin the Fire on the Dragon. Give the dragon an open v-shaped mouth and make the flames in a v-shape to match his mouth. This would be ideal for a party where there is a mix of boys and girls. It is also especially good for parties with a Harry Potter theme.
- Pin the Wings on the Fairy. This is a great idea for parties where the guests will all be young girls.
- Pin the Eye on the Monster. Young boys would probably relish the gooeyness and ickyness of pinning an eye on something. It will probably raise lots of giggles when it's revealed where the eye has been pinned!
- Pin the Teeth on the Vampire. There seems to be a craze at the moment for all things vampirish. This version of the favourite game would be great for a Halloween Party. Also for a teenage girls and boys party
- Pin the Wheel on the Car. This is great for young boys. Another variation can be added by giving the child four wheels to pin on.
Here are some other variations on familiar party games.
- Rather than musical chairs try musical knobs. Children race for the nearest door knob instead of the nearest chair. If there aren't enough doors in the room bring in a piece of furniture, for example, a chest of drawers, to get the required number. Instead of taking away a chair, use a small piece of Blue Tak to stick a large red circle (cut from red paper or cardboard) over the knob. The red circle signifies that that door knob is not in the game.
- Try musical hats. Plant hats in spots around the room. While the music is playing children walk around the room. When the music stops they race for the nearest hat. Again instead of taking away a chair, you take away a hat. If the party has a particular theme, tie the type of hat in with the theme of the party. And don't forget any type of hat can be used. If it's a Princess themed party, try using toy tiaras.
- Hide and seek can have a new twist. Instead of one children counting to 100 while all the other players find a hiding spot and wait to be found, all the children except 1 counts to 100 while the 1 child finds a hiding spot and waits to be found.
