Creative decoration, food and activity ideas to help you plan a Christmas party for kids of all ages.
As soon as the Thanksgiving turkey has been eaten all thoughts turn to Christmas, especially for young children. Celebrate the fun and spirit of the season by hosting a Christmas party for your children and their friends. Use the ideas below to create a wonderful holiday memory.
Make the preparation as much fun as the party by constructing red, white and green snowflakes with your children.
Ask guests to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to the Salvation Army Toy Drive. Designate a spot to collect the toys the guests bring. Speak with the children about how these gifts will go to kids who don’t have a lot of toys. Talk about how important it is to help others and thank them for the gifts.
Before the party cut out and bake sugar cookies in fun holiday shapes. Purchase colored sprinkles, food coloring, colored gel and other cookie toppings. Cover a table with a paper tablecloth and set out little bowls filled with the decorations. Color store-bought or homemade frosting with food coloring and place the bowls of frosting in the center of the table with the plates of cooled cookies. Have the kids use their creativity to decorate the cookies however they wish.
Draw a large reindeer on a poster board and tape to the wall. Cut out red paper circles and stick double-sided tape to the back of the circles. Have the children line up to pin the nose on Rudolph. To make the game more challenging blindfold older kids and spin them three times before they attempt to stick the nose on Rudolph.
Before the party write 30 Christmas terms such as, mistletoe, on slips on paper and place in a bowl. Set up an easel with paper and colored pencils. During the party divide the kids into two teams and have them compete against each other at Pictionary.
