Here are fun free ideas and plans for the best children's John Deere tractor birthday party. Party activities, favors, kid activities, decorating ideas, music suggestions, and big bales of hay are just the beginning of the great tips following.
Invitations and Party Goods for a John Deere Farming Party
- John Deere brand paper party goods are available online.
- John Deere colors are green and yellow. Streamers and balloons in these colors will be fun.
- For a farm themed party, look for party good featuring red barns, animals, farm folk, etc.
- Cute invitations cut into barn shapes folded up with opening doors will be cute. Toss some small bits of hay in the envelope.
Planning for the Farm Birthday Party
- Send out invitations two weeks in advance, or call to make sure little friends are free to hold the date.
- If the party is to be held at a pony ride spot, petting zoo, or other venue, make reservations.
- Ask guests to wear “farm clothes” like jeans and plaid shirts.
- Find a John Deere shirt for the birthday child to wear.
- Shop for (or make) party goods, décor, food, and party favors.

- If anyone knows how to square dance, demonstrating a few moves (especially for the under five-year-old set) will be a lot of fun.
- If the weather is nice, make a small hay bale maze or circle and let kids run free a bit. Cake and ice cream can be served outside, with children sitting on the bales (saving indoor clean-up, too).

Have a few more easy activities on hand if there is extra time.
- Play a few games of 20 questions, about farm animals.
- Decorate a farm mural on a big, long section of teacher supply store rolled paper. Kids can hand draw farm animals, tractors, barns and more, or stencils and stickers may be provided.
- Play field games, like an egg on a spoon relay.
- See who can shuck a cob of corn the fastest.
- Play a game of horseshoes.
- Read a farm storybook aloud.
- Have each child pose for a picture with the birthday child. Send them a copy with their thank-you note.
Consider a Short Party
- Rather than wait until young kids are tired and grumpy, keep the party to about two hours.
- For a longer party rest time, show a farm-related movie like Babe or Charlotte’s Web. Fun tractor and farm DVDs are available through the library.
